welcome to paradise

Tamar Farm sits between two rivers with a backdrop of New Zealand’s snowy Southern Alps, where the animals live a happy life grazing and growing naturally on a bountiful grass-based diet.

It’s here, beneath the shadow of Canterbury’s stunning Mt Somers, that Richard and Chrissie Wright started their dream to establish a Red Devon beef herd which harks back to Richard’s heritage in Devon, England.

Now recognised at the highest levels for their efforts of farming in an environmentally sustainable way, they proudly proclaim to have achieved their vision of a first-class progressive farming system utilising efficient and best farming practices.

At Tamar Farm we are proud of what we do, and of our team around us who ensure we consistently deliver a quality product. We are always striving to do better and looking for ways to be in the forefront of modern farming and technology. It is important that we maintain a sustainable future, for our business, community and family.

tamar beef

We offer a range of premium grass-fed, pasture-raised Red Devon beef, the highest quality meat fresh from our farm to your table. Currently available from select stockists.

“Tamar Farm Red Devon beef is perfect, lightly-marbled meat that is juicy and tender. This is a reflection of Tamar Farm’s farming practices, caring for their grass-fed animals and keeping them in a happy, stress-free environment. That is what our customers love – they enjoy knowing where their beef is raised and that it’s treated with the knowledge and passion Richard and Chrissie Wright have for their animals.”

the tamar story

Tamar Farm is a family business, and our family story is the foundation for everything we do.

The Tamar Story

past

Richard and Chrissie Wright both grew up in farming families on opposite sides of the world. Their Red Devon herd is a nod to Richard’s childhood in Devon, England, near the Tamar River, where his parents farmed the same breed of cattle.

The Tamar Story

present

At Tamar Farm, stewardship is extremely important to us. We take pride in everything we do, and want the brand “Tamar” to be a name people recognise and associate with quality products.

The Tamar Story

future

As we grow Tamar Farm into the future, we will continue to embrace technology to refine and enhance our farming practices. We are committed to developing our farm as a sustainable business and workplace.
